ABOUT ME
Mariel Estevez was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her undergraduate studies included a final thesis of one year of duration, in which she studied theoretical cosmology and postulated a new theory to explain the problem of isocurvature. She defended her thesis and graduated in March 2016. Afterwards, she did her PhD in particle physics where she performed statistical analysis for the search of new possible particles at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and developed a software as a tool for the simulation of experiments with these new particles. She started a postdoctoral fellowship at LIAA under the supervision of Dra Luciana Ferrer in 2021, where her research focus was on machine learning applied to speech processing. It included speaker verification tasks, automatic recognition of voice disorders and calibration. During this period of time she completed an internship at Vivolab with Dr. Alfonso Ortega as part of the European Union’s Esperanto project.
